California – The Internet Explorer brand could be getting replaced. As reported by WebProNews, Microsoft recently announced that it is developing a new brand codenamed project Spartan in what some suggested has been an effort to change the perception of the old brand.

Microsoft’s Chris Capossela is quoted by The Verge as recently stating at the Microsoft Convergence event, “We’re now researching what the new brand, or the new name, for our browser should be in Windows 10…. We’ll continue to have Internet Explorer, but we’ll also have a new browser called Project Spartan, which is codenamed Project Spartan. We have to name the thing.”

As noted in the report, recent research shows that people remain receptive to the Microsoft brand; however, efforts to change the reputation of IE have not proved eventful.
