Los Angeles – Actor Alec Baldwin is set to step into the role of New York City Mayor, just not in the sense that many expected. As reported by WebProNews, Baldwin is stated to have toyed with the idea of running a few years ago, expressing his thoughts in a 2011 interview about governing.

Baldwin is quoted as having stated at the time, “There are people who make a lot of money who become rich people, and then there are people who make a lot of money, but they don’t think like rich people do… No matter how much money they have, they are the same from their own upbringing. I would definitely put myself in the latter class.”

Baldwin has yet to run for actual mayor, but is slated to soon play one on TV. On the show, which is currently untitled, Baldwin will reportedly play a character named Joe Byrne, a billionaire real estate developer who becomes the New York Mayor.

Baldwin is quoted as stating of the character recently, “He’s Trump without the baggage, Bloomberg but a Democrat, George Soros if he was in real estate, a left-leaning Democrat who is also a businessman who understands the reality of how the city has to be run to create the right climate for the business community.”
