Boston – An Uber driver has been accused of raping a female passenger he picked up in Boston. As reported by CBS Boston, 46-year-old Alejandro Done has been arraigned in court on multiple charges including rape and battery.

The incident occurred on December 6. According to authorities, the victim was attacked after being taken to a location she was not familiar with after having been told by the driver that she needed a cash payment to pay for the ride.

The Middlesex County District Attorney’s office is quoted in the report as stating of the attack, “He allegedly struck her with his hands, strangled her, locked the car doors so that she could not escape and covered her mouth so she could not scream… During an ensuing physical struggle, the defendant allegedly sexually assaulted the woman.”

According to Uber, Done was not the person contacted by the victim to pick her up. The ride sharing service also stated that Done had passed a background check.

A dangerous hearing is set for Done for December 24.
