South Africa – The murder case of British businessman Shrien Dewani has been tossed by a judge in South Africa. As reported by BBC, Judge Jeanette Traverso threw out the case after determining that the prosecution’s evidence fell “far below the threshold” of what is reasonable to obtain a conviction by a court.

Dewani was charged with planning the murder of his wife Anni, who was killed during their honeymoon in South Africa. He was extradited from Bristol to the country in 2010 to face trial.

Anni Dewani’s sister, Ami Denborg, is quoted as stating while outside of the Western Cape High Court, of her family’s disappointment in the judge’s decision, “Today we feel as a family that the justice system has failed us and we are deeply disappointed.

“We came here looking for answers and we came here looking for the truth and all we got was more questions.”
