Tennessee – A collision between two school buses on a Tennessee highway claimed the lives of three people. As reported by WebProNews, two students and one adult were killed in the afternoon crash near Knoxville.

Three passengers were also taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with critical injuries, but were later listed in stable condition. Twenty other students were transported to another hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre is quoted as stating of the accident in a news conference, “This is an unspeakable tragedy. This is what we work every day to try to prevent.”

The crash was still being investigated at the time of the report.
