New York – CNN anchor Don Lemon apologized to a woman he interviewed after she came forward with allegations that comedian Bill Cosby had raped her. As reported by WebProNews, many viewers criticized Lemon for remarking to Joan Tarshis that she could have prevented herself from having to perform a sexual act that she said Cosby forced her into.

Tarshis has stated that she didn’t feel that Lemon’s comments had been insensitive; however, the anchor released a statement apologizing anyway.

Lemon is quoted as stating, “A word about my interview last night with Cosby accuser Joan Tarshis: As I am a victim myself, I would never want to suggest that any victim could have prevented a rape… If my question to her struck anyone as insensitive, I am sorry as that was certainly not my intention.”

As noted in the report, Tarshis defended Lemon in a subsequent interview.
