Turkey – An elevator accident has led to the deaths of 10 people in Istanbul. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the construction site elevator plunged 32 stories resulting in the deaths.

An investigation was launched following the workplace accident Saturday, and eight people were detained for questioning, according to Istanbul’s governor, Huseyin Avni Mutlu.

Mutlu is quoted by the AP as stating, “The laws are clear. If anyone is not abiding by these laws, they will be held accountable.”

As noted in the report, the accident follows a mining disaster in western Turkey, which resulted in the deaths of over 300 miners.
