Massachusetts – A Massachusetts woman says she was denied a job position because she is allergic to peanuts. As reported by Good Morning America, Kameela Coleman claims, she lost a job offer as a scheduling coordinator at a dental outpatient clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital after disclosing that she had a peanut allergy to hospital administration.

Coleman says she was told that the job offer was rescinded because she could not be offered a safe work environment. Coleman is quoted as stating of the matter, “I kept saying to them I wasn’t asking them to make any accommodations for me.”

Coleman says she is unsure of whether she will explore legal avenues in the matter. According to experts, the severity of her allergy could determine whether she is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination in employment against individuals who have disabilities.
