Boston, M.A.—A 12,000-pound steel beam fell on a man at an East Boston plant leaving him dead on Monday, December 9, 2013. The fatal industrial accident occurred at Boston Bridge & Steel Inc. on Marginal Street around 6:15 p.m., The Boston Globe reported.

According to officials, Marco Antonio Huezo Mancea, 46, of El Salvador was pronounced dead at the scene after the steel fell onto him and trapped him underneath.

It took first responders late into Monday to remove Mancea from underneath the 12,000-pound arch shaped piece of steel.

The death appears to be an accident and foul play is not suspected, officials revealed.

Investigations are underway and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to investigate.
