Tennessee – A park ranger working for the City of Chattanooga at Coolidge Park was fired from his job after being seen dancing while on the clock. As reported by WRCB, Deryl Nelson, who says he was nicknamed “the dancing park ranger” after doing it for years, was fired after a park patron complained online about his impromptu dances.

Nelson had held the position for over seven years. He says his dancing was meant to bring joy to visitors; however, following the complaint, the public works department deemed it inappropriate citing him to be in violation of its code of conduct.

Nelson, is quoted as stating of the complaint, “People just have nothing else to do but bash people… No twerks, no jerking, no nothing.”

Park patron Deeanna Demian is quoted as commenting on the city terminating Nelson’s employment, “Sad. I mean somebody’s trying to have fun and entertain people and they get fired for doing that. I don’t understand.”

The city did not provide a comment to the news source on the matter.
