Texas – A 34-year-old woman who enrolled at a Texas school pretending to be an orphaned 15-year-old has been charged with providing police with false information. As reported by the UK Daily Mail, Charity Johnson, was recently arrested in Longview several months after enrolling in the school as a sophomore.

Johnson deceived school officials in the East Texas community in addition to her 23-year-old boyfriend, whom she persuaded she was 18, and a woman who runs a nonprofit organization for women and girls.

Osarieme Obaseki, who runs the Dallas-based What About Us non-profit organization, became suspicious of Johnson after she visited her on Mother’s Day. She subsequently called the guardian Johnson had been living with, Tamica Lincoln, who turned out to be younger than the fake teen.

Obaseki is quoted as stating, “It’s just been a lot of lies and cover-up… Nobody I spoke to has said it’s ever been a financial situation. She had money! It’s not that, at all.”

Following an investigation, Johnson was charged with failure to identify/giving false, fictitious information and booked into the Gregg County Jail.
