Los Angeles – Reports have surfaced claiming Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been battling prostate cancer. As reported by Reuters, various media outlets including The New York Post issued reports on Thursday stating that unnamed sources say the newly banned NBA team owner has been battling the condition for some time.

The reports followed the National Basketball Association’s decision to ban Sterling for life and issue a $2.5 million fine, after he was allegedly recorded making disparaging comments against minorities. A voice stated to be Sterling can be heard on the recordings censuring a female associate, whom some reports have purported to be his girlfriend, for her association with black people.

League Commissioner Adam Silver has called for Sterling, 80, to be ousted as a team owner, calling for a vote by other club owners to force him to sell his team. Silver has stated that Sterling did not offer an apology, but has acknowledged the authenticity of the recording to the NBA.
