South Carolina – A pregnant woman who says she was accused of violating the dress code of a South Carolina Planet Fitness says the incident has left her “broken to pieces.” As reported by Good Morning America, Melissa Mantor says she is no longer comfortable with working out while pregnant after a staff member of the exercise facility told her to cover up her belly or leave.

Mantor says the tank top she had on at the time was one she had previously worn to the gym. She was 19 weeks pregnant when the incident occurred last week.

Several attorneys have reportedly contacted Mantor regarding the issue; however, she says she does not intend to sue the fitness chain, but is quoted as stating in a letter sent to Planet Fitness that she has chosen to address the matter in the media “because I feel I would be doing anyone else who possesses membership at Planet Fitness a disservice by exposing them to the possibility of their own case of discrimination, embarrassment, and unnecessary attention.”

Mantor, who has since cancelled her membership to the gym, is quoted as stating, “I don’t understand how they can claim to be a ‘no-judgement’ gym and then pick and choose who to judge.”
