Vermont – A 24-year-old woman has been awarded $35 million in the case against a man accused of sexually abusing her for several years. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the jury concluded that Scott Isaacson had abused the woman when she was between the ages of 3 and 9 during ski trips taken to Vermont.

Isaacson, who the woman’s attorney says will unlikely be able to pay all of the award, maintains his innocence.

Jerry O’Neill, who represented the woman in the case, says the award was symbolic regardless of whether the sum would be paid. O’Neill is quoted as stating, “The verdict sends another strong message that Vermont juries will not tolerate anyone, regardless of his or her position or status, taking advantage of children to satisfy their own sexual urges.”

Isaacson was convicted in 2000 in Massachusetts on charges related to the plaintiff and served over four years in prison.
