Phoenix woman ordered jailed over Clinton shoe throwing incident

Phoenix – A Phoenix woman accused of throwing a shoe at former Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton was ordered to remain in jail on Tuesday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a federal magistrate ordered the detention of Alison Michelle Ernst, 36, until she is returned to Las Vegas to face federal charges in connection with the incident.

The shoe thrown at Clinton while she was giving a speech on Thursday at the Mandalay Bay resort reportedly missed her.

Ernst was arrested on Monday after federal charges were filed against her on Monday. She stands accused of trespassing and violence against a person.

If convicted Ernst could receive a federal prison sentence of up to two years.
