Michigan – The fee charged to Michigan drivers for the cost of catastrophic injury claims will remain $186. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association recently made an announcement regarding the assessment for the 12 months beginning July 1.

As noted by the AP, the group, which is based in Livonia, collects funds for reimbursing auto insurers personal injury claims costs that go over $530,000 per claim. A reported $930 million was paid out by the group in the 12 months prior to June 30 of last year.

The program provides unlimited medical benefits, which Republicans in the Legislature have proposed doing away with to decrease costs.
