Denville, NJ – A private high school senior has filed a lawsuit against her parents for financial support after accusing them of kicking her out of the house. As reported by the Daily Record, Morris Catholic High School honor student and athlete, Rachel Canning is seeking financial support and help with paying for her education, claiming she was thrown out at the age of 18.

Canning filed the lawsuit in Family Part of state Superior Court in Morristown last week seeking to be declared nonemancipated and dependent on support from her parents as a student. She is reportedly currently staying with the family of a friend.

Judge Peter Bogaard set a hearing on the matter for Tuesday. Canning’s attorney, Tanya N. Helfand, will reportedly seek an order to force her parents to pay an outstanding tuition bill at the Catholic school for $5,306.
