Louisiana – The fate of popular reality show “Duck Dynasty” has been called into question following the suspension of Phil Roberston over controversial remarks made during a magazine interview. As reported by CNN, the family of the show patriarch released a statement following Robertson’s suspension regarding their future with A&E.

The Robertsons are quoted as saying the their statement, “We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.”

Phil Roberston’s comments appear in the January issue of GQ in which he discussed his beliefs on homosexuality being a sin and race prior to the civil rights era. GQ quotes him as saying of African Americans, “Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

Roberston is further quoted by the magazine as stating, “Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Roberston released the statement following the controversy surrounding his comments, “I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me…We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity.”

The fifth season of “Duck Dynasty” was set to premiere on January 15.
