Los Angeles – Oscar-nominated writer-director Frank Darabont has filed a lawsuit against AMC over profits from the hit show “The Walking Dead.” As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the lawsuit against AMC Network Entertainment LLC and other defendants was filed in New York Supreme Court on Tuesday by Darabont and Creative Arts Agency.

As noted in the report, the lawsuit also claims that Darabont was fired without cause as a producer, and that AMC paid itself a low license fee deliberately after deciding to produce the drama in house.

The lawsuit is quoted as stating, “The sole goal of this sham transaction is to enhance the profits of the parent company by minimizing the revenues that go into the ‘pool’ of funds for the show’s profit participants.”

The suit further asserts, “AMC’s sham imputed license fee formula is clearly designed to ensure plaintiffs never see that first dollar.”
