New Jersey – “Sesame Street” actor Roscoe Orman has lost a palimony battle with his former girlfriend of 39 years. As reported by The Star-Ledger, the 69-year-old actor who plays Gordon on the children’s program, split with Sharon Joiner-Orman, 61, in 2010 and subsequently married another woman. Joiner-Orman sued Orman saying he made promises to provide for her for the rest of her life.

Superior Court Judge Ned Rosenberg in Newark ruled last month in spite of there being no written agreement between the unmarried couple, that Orman would have to continue paying palimony to Joiner-Orman.

Rosenberg is quoted in the report as writing in his decision, “The court finds the plaintiff (Joiner) has fully performed her end of the bargain (to put it tersely)… In addition, there is no way to qualify the value of the services plaintiff provided over the course of 39 years much less the value of foregone educational and work related opportunities. What is more, the defendant does not deny the agreement and even acknowledged the obligation by deeds and words.”

A hearing has been set to determine the amount Orman owes.
