New Jersey – New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made a surprise visit to the boardwalk on Saturday and vowed to restore the parts of it that were recently destroyed by a massive fire. As reported by Good Morning America, 30 buildings and many areas of the boardwalk that were rebuilt after Superstorm Sandy were destroyed after the fire began at the Fun Town Pier custard shop.

Christie is quoted in the report as stating to ABC News of not knowing the cause of the blaze, “Whatever the cause is we will let law enforcement and insurance agencies find out. I suspect I will be one of the last people to know.”

More than a reported 400 firefighters worked to combat the fire. An investigation into its cause was taken over by the county prosecutors, which is routine according to officials. Individuals with information that may be helpful in the investigation can call 732-929-2027.
