Beijing – A Chinese college law professor was banned from teaching after calling for constitutional rule in an article. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Zhang Xuezhong said he was notified by the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai that he would no longer be allowed to teach at the school following the publication of his article in June.

According to Zhang, university officials labeled his article unconstitutional and stated it was in violation of the laws that regulate the behaviors of teachers. Chinese authorities have reportedly begun an attack on the advocacy of constitutionalism.

The country’s constitution is secondary to the Communist Party as noted in the report.
