Baltimore – An AirTran flight was diverted after a passenger attempted to open an emergency exit door mid-air. As reported by UPI.com, the flight was en route from Baltimore to Austin when the passenger had to be restrained until pilots could land the plane after he tried to open the door.

One passenger on the plane stated the man was making claims that he didn’t want to live and was acting suicidal during the incident on Monday. No injuries were report to have resulted.

Tara Hamilton, who was also a passenger on the flight, is quoted in the report as stating of the incident, “Everyone was really calm and in good spirits and understanding… Luckily there were military personnel on the plane and they were really accommodating. It could have been way worse but it wasn’t that bad.”
