City Council asked to pay San Diego mayor’s legal bills

San Diego – The San Diego City Council has been asked to pay the legal bills of Mayor Bob Filner who has been sued for sexual harassment. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the request was to be considered by the City Council this week.

Filner has been asked to resign by seven of the nine members on the City Council amid his legal battle concerning a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by his former communications director, Irene McCormack Jackson.

Seven women have come forward alleging the mayor made unwanted sexual advances towards them. Filner, a former congressman who has served less than eight months of his four-year term as mayor has not resigned from the position and recently stated he would be entering a therapy program, according to the AP report.
