New Delhi – Indian actor Salman Khan is set to stand trial for a homicide charge in connection with a fatal road accident that occurred more than a decade ago. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Khan will face trial next month for the September 2002 accident in which one man was killed and four people were left with injuries.

Khan reportedly drove his vehicle into a group of homeless people who had been sleeping on a sidewalk in Mumbai. Previous charges of death by negligence had been brought against the Bollywood actor, but the more serious charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was invoked by a magistrate in February.

If convicted, Khan faces up to 10 years in jail.
