Los Angeles – A Los Angeles judge revoked singer Chris Brown’s probation Monday after charges were brought against him in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred last month. As reported by Reuters, 24-year-old Brown, who has been on probation for a 2009 assault on his former girlfriend, fellow singer Rihanna, may be sentenced to jail time if found to have been in violation of his probation.

Brown has reportedly been released on his own recognizance. A hearing has been set for August 16 to make a determination as to whether he violated his probation terms according to Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin.

Brown was charged with driving without a license in addition to the misdemeanor hit-and-run charge last month for the May 21 accident in Los Angeles. Brown’s defense team and the purported victims have filed for a dismissal of the charges.
