Santa Ana, CA – A Harvard professor was slated to be the star witness at the trial of an Army soldier accused of leaking classified information. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Professor Yochai (yoh-KYE’) Benkler was set to testify on behalf of Pfc. Bradley Manning Wednesday, and is stated to be the last witness called by the defense.

Jeff Paterson, a board member of the Bradley Manning Support Network, is quoted by the AP as stating of the defense attorney’s choice in number of witnesses called by the defense, “He said he’s not going to call up witnesses to counter arguments that were never made. For him, that was the best case scenario.”

Manning, 25, has been charged with aiding the enemy and could receive up to life in prison for sending classified information to the WikiLeaks website while he worked as an intelligence agent in Iraq, which he has admitted to.
