Australia – Two cruise ship passengers fell overboard off Australia’s east coast as authorities searched for them on Thursday. As reported by People, authorities conducted a search by air and sea after the couple was believed to have fallen overboard during the night before.

The couple, whose names were not yet released, were discovered missing after the Carnival Spirit docked at Sydney’s Circular Quay Thursday morning. Video surveillance reportedly shows the couple falling. The incident is still being investigated.

New South Wales Police Superintendent Mark Hutchings is quoted in the report as stating, “This is a tragic event at the moment, but we’re holding out hope we might be able to find these people alive.”
