U.S. – A federal appeals court has upheld a judgment against pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. for $142 million. As reported by Reuters, the panel of appellate judges in Boston determined Wednesday that the company should pay the verdict linked to marketing and prescribing the epilepsy drug Neurontin for uses that had not been approved by the FDA.

The Kaiser Foundation Health Plan had brought forth the claim of damages caused by fraudulent marketing by the largest drugmaker in the U.S.

Kaiser is quoted in the report as stating of the decision, “justice has been achieved for our members and the physicians, pharmacists and staff who care for them.”
