Milan – Attorneys for former Prime Minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, sought a delay in his sex-for-hire case, as prosecutors requested an accelerated trial in connection with corruption charges against him on Monday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Berlusconi sought a postponement in two trials in Milan due to purported health complications.

Judges in the politician’s sex-for-hire trial approved a motion for a delay, after a new medical visit was ordered to provide evidence the severity of his conditions, which was purported to be an eye condition as well as a problem with his heart.

Berlusconi was convicted in another case last week in connection with the illegal publication of wiretapped conversations and sentenced to a one-year jail sentence.
