Employee Injured in Lab Experiment at Picatinny Arsenal

Rockaway Township, NJ — A work-related accident injured a Picatinny Arsenal lab employee during a laboratory experiment on Monday, February 25, 2013. The workplace accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the arsenal’s Energetic and Organic Materials Laboratory, the New Jersey Herald reported.

The victim, who remains unidentified, was a contracted employee at Picatinny.

Picatinny’s emergency services transported the victim to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover for treatment of abrasions. He was treated and released.

The cause and nature of the accident has not been released, as it is currently being investigated.

No one else was reported injured in the accident.

It is unknown if the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be investigating as well.
