Seattle – A Washington state judge has rejected a lawsuit involving a deal to build a new Seattle arena. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), King County Superior Court Judge Douglass North ruled that a deal reached between the city, an investment group, and King County was not in violation of state environmental law as purported by a union to having possibly have been.

Union lawyer David Mann is quoted by the AP as stating in regards to his request to have the agreement invalidated, “This case is not about whether the Sonics should or are returning to Seattle… What the case is about is whether the city council, the mayor, the county council and executive went too far.”

North is quoted as stating of his decision, “There isn’t a binding decision here,” and that framework for a future deal had been laid out by the agreement, but no commitment by the county or city for building the arena.
