Washington – Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife have agreed to plead guilty to federal charges in plea deal. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), prosecutors filed charges against the former U.S. Representative and his former alderman wife Sandra for allegedly conspiring to use campaign funds for expensive personal expenses.

The former congressman is quoted as saying of the matter in a written statement released by his attorneys, “I offer no excuses for my conduct, and I fully accept my responsibility for the improper decisions and mistakes I have made…I want to offer my sincerest apologies … for my errors in judgment and while my journey is not yet complete, it is my hope that I am remembered for things that I did right.”

The couple may face up to several years in prison for the charges against them.
