Big Bear Lake, CA – A couple has claimed that fugitive former Los Angeles police officer Christopher Dorner tied them up and stole their vehicle prior to his confrontation with police. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Karen and Jim Reynolds say Dorner was hiding in their rental condo in the San Bernardino Mountains for days before they discovered he was there on Tuesday.

A manhunt for Dorner had been implemented at the time. Jim Reynolds is quoted in the report as stating of the encounter with Dorner, “He said, ‘I don’t have a problem with you, so I’m not going to hurt you… I didn’t believe him, I thought he was going to kill us.”

Dorner died following the onset of a shootout with police during which another cabin he was in caught fire. His remains were positively identified on Thursday.
