Washington – The House is expected to reconvene on Sunday, leaving limited time to work out an agreement regarding the anticipated “fiscal cliff” prior to the New Year. As reported by The Ticket, an agreement has yet to be reached regarding averting the fiscal cliff, which entails a series of tax increases and spending cuts that economists project might lead to a new recession.

House Speaker John Boehner is quoted in the report as stating of the issue during a conference call, “If the Senate will not approve these bills and send them to the president to be signed into law in their current form, they must be amended and returned to the House.”

President Barack Obama reportedly arrived back at the White House Thursday after cutting his family vacation short.

Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed his prediction on Thursday that an agreement would not likely be reached in time to prevent the fiscal cliff dive.
