New York – Two friends suffered paralyzing accident injuries two years apart. As reported by Good Morning America, Alan Brown and Danny Heumann both sustained paralyzing injuries in accidents in the 1980s and now contribute to causes designed to help individuals who live with paralysis.

Brown, who was caregiver to his friend Danny Heumann following his 1985 car accident, was subsequently paralyzed in a surfing accident while on vacation.

Brown, who has pledged to raise $250,000 for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, is quoted in the report as stating of his efforts today, “There’s no ego here — we’re building an army… Spinal cord injuries don’t discriminate. In one split second my life changed.”
