San Francisco – The legal battle between technology giants Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Corp. has been recharged over patent issues. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Samsung is seeking to have an August verdict, in which Apple was awarded $1 billion after several Samsung products were found to have used technology the company controlled, overturned.

Apple is reportedly seeking to have the previous award raised by $500 million and the banning of some Samsung products related to the case from sale in the U.S.

Edward Naughton, a patent attorney who has followed the case, is quoted by the AP as stating in speculation of the outcome, “Samsung is hoping to set aside the verdict entirely, accusing the jury foreman of lying to get on the jury… This argument isn’t likely to succeed, but Samsung may convince the court to whittle down the jury verdict a bit.”
