Binghampton, NY — Police believe that a car that crashed into a Binghampton market was a result of brake failure. The automobile accident occurred Friday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Weis Markets, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

According to officials, Justin Kehoe, 32, of Binghamtpon, drove through an intersection and crashed into a support beam outside Weis Markets. Preliminary investigations showed that Kehoe veered to the right at the last moment to avoid hitting the building head-on.

Responding emergency crews rushed four people, including two children, to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Binghamton Fire Department Capt. Gary O’Neill told the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin that authorities believe the car’s brakes failed, but more investigation is needed.

Investigations into the automobile accident are underway.
