Tucson, Arizona – A Tucson man involved in a DUI crash that left a father of two dead apologized at his sentencing last week. As reported by the Arizona Daily Star, Ryan Membrila was sentenced to 10 1/2 years last week after pleading guilty to manslaughter and aggravated driving under the influence in connection with the Sept. 20, 2011 accident.

Membrila, who was reportedly 19 at the time of the accident, struck a stalled vehicle Gabriel Enriquez had been riding in with a friend, while Enriquez was walking behind the car. Membrila reportedly had twice the legal alcohol limit in his system while entering the emergency lane and hitting the car.

Several deputies and officers were reportedly in the courtroom during the sentencing due to a prior exchange between the two families.
