Sulphur Springs – A former Sulphur Springs police chief has received a three-year prison sentence after admitting to child molestation. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, Donald Gene Lewis, 63, entered a guilty plea for 10 counts of indecency with a child. The victim in the case was a family member, who Lewis purportedly molested between 2001 and 2004.

The victim, whose name was not disclosed, is quoted by the Dallas Morning News as stating of the sentence, “I went into it thinking he was going to spend the rest of his life in prison…You take away someone’s childhood, the least you could do is take away his elderlyhood.”

Lewis is set to receive credit for time served for part of his sentence.
