New Mexico – A judge has ruled that the website of a former college president accused of promoting prostitution online is not illegal. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), District Judge Stan Whitaker has ruled that the website of former University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia was not “a place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed.”

As noted in the report, Garcia and several others were charged with promoting prostitution after allegedly overseeing the website Southwest Companions, which has been linked to a prostitution ring with a membership of 14,000 people, 200 of which were purportedly prostitutes.

A decision has reportedly not yet been made with regard to how the case against Garcia and others accused of being involved in the prostitution ring will proceed.
