Chicago – A settlement has been reached in the medical malpractice case brought forth following the death of former Chicago Sun-Times owner James Tyree. As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, the family of Tyree recently settled the lawsuit against the University of Chicago Medical Center for $10 million.

As noted in the report, Tyree, 53, died at the hospital in March of last year after a dialysis catheter was removed and air bubbles entered into his bloodstream. He was at the time receiving treatment for stomach cancer from the University of Chicago Medical Center.

The settlement will reportedly be paid to Tyree’s widow, Eve, and his three children. As noted in the court filing, Eve Tyree will donate her portion to the James C. Tyree Charitable Foundation.
