Joliet, Ill – A man has been charged in relation to an accident that caused the deaths of two elderly women. As reported by CBS Chicago, 25 year-old Joseph E. Slattery was recently charged with six counts of aggravated DUI following the accident that left Margaret S. Simons, 72, and Suzanne Thomson, 92, dead. Another passenger Ralph Simons, 42, was also injured in the accident, but his injuries were reportedly non-life threatening.

Two passengers in the vehicle driven by Slattery, a woman and child, received treatment for minor injuries.

Will County Court records indicate Slattery is accused of having drugs and alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. A state trooper is quoted in the report as stating, “Preliminary indications are that alcohol was involved.” Blood and urine samples were purportedly obtained from Slattery.

Slattery is being held on a $350,000 bond. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
