On Thursday, February 2, 2012, a wreck along the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx killed a pregnant teen, 2 males and injured two others, according to information received by Bronx injury lawyer Jonathan C Reiter. The crash occurred at approximately 12:15 am.
Authorities report the girl, 16-year-old Daniela Abreu was traveling in the rear seat of a 2012 Chrysler 300 sedan when the driver lost control. Daniela Abreu died at St. Barnabas Hospital, after suffering a miscarriage during the crash.
When 30-year-old Eduardo Nunez lost control of the vehicle, it careened over a grass shoulder and struck a concrete wall. The vehicle continued to slide into a concrete pillar before coming to a rest. All five occupants were pinned inside the car, noted the Bronx injury attorney and all travelers required extrication.
Nunez, of Washington Heights, was pronounced dead at the scene, along with another passenger Jose Henriquez, 22. A 21-year-old man by the name of Raymond Batista, of Yonkers, suffered severe head trauma and was taken to St. Barnabas. The fifth passenger, 18-year-old Garcia Abel was saved from the wreck as well. Abel was transported to St. Barnabas with hip, leg and back injuries, according to New York City auto accident attorney Jonathan C Reiter. He was listed in critical but stable condition, as of Tuesday.
