Chambersburg, PA — A school bus rolled over onto its side Friday morning, January 20, 2012, injuring 10 Ben Chambers Elementary students at the intersection of Glen and High Streets in the borough, reported the Chambersburg Pubic Opinion.

Police reported that the school bus was headed north on Glen Street when a Saturn Vue ran a stop sign at the intersection of High and Glen Streets. The SUV clipped the driver’s side rear corner of the bus, causing it to slide sideways and overturn onto it’s side.

The bus came to a rest on the side with the bus’ main exit door, so the students and the driver had to escape through the rear of the bus.

Responding emergency crews transported 11 students, with ages ranging from 6-11, to Summit Health in Chambersburg for medical treatment.

It is unknown if the unidentified driver of the SUV was injured in the wreck.

Investigations into the school bus accident are underway. It is unknown if the driver of the SUV will be cited for the crash.
