Tulsa, OK — A speeding vehicle slammed into a Tulsa apartment building early Monday morning, January 16, 2012, injuring three people, including a small child who was inside the apartment. The automobile accident occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 6400 block of 107th East Avenue, reported NewsOn6.com.
Tulsa Police believe speed was factor that caused a vehicle to cave in a wall of one the units in the building, which sent bricks and drywall flying into the air.
Responding firefighters had to cut the 24-year-old female driver and her 32-year-old male passenger from the car, as well as rescue a 3-year-old child from inside the building.
The crash threw debris, which fell onto the child’s bed.
All three people were transported to Tulsa hospitals for medical treatment. The child is currently listed in fair condition, while the driver and passenger of the vehicle are listed in serious condition.
Police also reported that around 5:15 a.m., the vehicle that crashed into the building also caught fire while at Storey Wrecker’s storage facility in downtown Tulsa. The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short, which started the blaze that spread to two nearby vehicles. The fire was extinguished.
