Centerport Woman Killed in West Lampeter Township Construction Accident

West Lampeter Township, PA — A female construction worker was killed after a co-worker failed to see her and backed over her with a truck on Monday, December 5, 2011. The fatal work-related accident occurred in a construction zone in the 1900 block of Willow Street Pike in West Lampeter Township around 4 p.m., reported the Reading Eagle.

According to reports, Cathleen J. Geisinger, 45, of Centerport was working as a flagger and was cleaning up the scene, when the accident occurred. As she was putting items in the back of a pickup truck, when a co-worker backed the vehicle over her.

The truck was driven by Steven L. Riegel, 36, of Bethel, police reported.

Responding emergency crews pronounced Geisinger dead at the scene.

Geisinger reportedly worked for Wexcon Inc., a Mohrsville firm.

Police are investigating the fatal construction accident, and have currently ruled the death as an accident.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are conducting a investigation into the death.
