Kennesaw, GA — It was incorrectly reported in “Worker Electrocuted in Workplace Accident at Vulcan Materials’ Kennesaw Quarry,” that a worker was electrocuted and died from his injuries. The victim was not electrocuted; instead he sustained an electrical shock from a 4,160-volt power line and was critically injured.

As previously reported, a welder at Vulcan Materials’ quarry in Kennesaw was doing repair work while using a buck truck to lift material when the bucket’s boom came into contact with the power line at 1272 Duncan Road, near McCollum Field.

Responding emergency crews rushed the welder to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment. He was then later admitted to the August burn center.

The injured worker’s injuries are considered non-life threatening.

A second man, who was working with the injured worker, was not injured in the accident.

The identities of the workers are being withheld at this time.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Vulcan and Georgia Power, which operated the power lines, are investigating the work-related accident.
