Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Hit by Auburn University Transit Bus

Auburn, AL — A pedestrian accident involving an Auburn University transit bus, hospitalized the pedestrian who was jogging with a group of Auburn University ROTC cadets Tuesday, October 18, 2011. The accident occurred on Lem Morrison Drive between South Donahue Drive and Camp Auburn Road at about 6:42 a.m., reported oanow.com.

According to Auburn Police, a 21-year-old woman was jogging with the ROTC cadets when she was hit by the side mirror of a Tiger Transit bus that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The woman was conscious at the scene, before she was airlifted at 7:12 a.m. to Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.

No other injuries were reported in connection with the accident.

The transit bus lost its driver’s side mirror, and remained at the scene while Auburn police conducted investigations.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time while the family is being notified.

Investigations are ongoing.
