Saltsburg, PA — A construction accident killed a 21-year-old construction worker outside a Saltsburg church on Monday, September 19, 2011. The construction accident occurred outside Faith Alliance Church on Wood Street at around 7:45 p.m., reported WTAE.

According to officials, the victim was on a clean-up crew with two other workers, who were moving a ladder, when it came into contact with high-voltage power lines, sending an electrical shock to the men. It is unknown what caused the ladder to come into contact with the power lines.

Responding emergency crews rushed the construction workers to Excela Health Latrobe and UPMC Mercy hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The 21-year-old worker succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Excela Health Latrobe.

The medical conditions of the two other workers are currently unknown.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the fatal construction accident.
